International Energy Globe Award Austria, 2001

The Sacramento Municipal Utility District solar team was responsible for over 50% of all grid-tied solar in US by 2001. It was in this same year that the global energy community recognized the pioneering work by Don and his team. They were awarded the 2001 International Energy Globe Award with a 10,000 EURO first prize and a trip to Austria for Don.

This global recognition was preceeded by another high honor from the American Solar Energy Society, the Charles Greeley Abbot Award. It was certainly given to Don in 2000  for “persistent and effective contributions to the many fields of solar energy.”
