"Unsurpassed Experience in Solar PV and Energy Efficiency Measures"
Why Spectrum Energy should be part of your team for your new
home development solar project.
Spectrum's unsurpassed experience:
- With the broadest range of solar applications,
- Working with home builders
incorporating solar,
- Reducing the cost of installing solar,
- Making the
solar market real.
Through the SMUD (Sacramento Municipal Utility District) PV Pioneer Program, New
Home PV Program, and Zero Energy House Program, the Spectrum team was responsible
for the first mainstream inclusion of solar electric roofs in new residential developments.
As a leading independent photovoltaic (PV) system integrator, Spectrum provides
builders with a broad range of PV systems, products, and applications. Spectrum
can provide builders with full service including design, hardware procurement, permit
support, installation services (using our crews or training your own subcontractors),
sales training, and warranty service. Everything to make sure that solar can fit
in with your business practices.

With proper design, conventional PV modules can be mounted with tile roofing to
give a clean, pleasing look at minimum cost.
Beyond lower cost, this approach also provides the most flexibility in PV module
and balance of systems suppliers. This can help to protect the builder for module
shortages and delivery delays that have become a problem in the current, high growth
rate PV market.
A wide variety of “roof integrated” PV systems are now available for the California
home building market. These systems can provide additional aesthetics desired by
many homebuilders.
The system above, the Kyocera Solar “MyGen Meridian” roof integrated PV system for
residential roofs, provides a Class A fire-rated system that cleanly integrates
with a wide variety of the most commonly used flat, concrete roofing tiles.
Sharp offers “Sharp Solar Rooftiles” (below, left), roof integrated PV modules that
interlock with traditional concrete roof tiles and do not require any roof penetrations.

Another solar roofing tile product is offered by Atlantis Energy (below, right).
The Atlantis product is based on roofing slates.

Shade
structures, as well as carport structures for commercial applications, can provide
an appropriate area for placing a PV system and provide added value.
